Good movers, mediocre estimators
The movers for Blue Whale did an excellent job with my belongings during a local move. Not a thing was broken or damaged, and the guys were very courteous. Overall it was an easy move.

My only complaint is that their estimator has no idea how things actually work on moving day. First off, it took three phone calls and five e-mails to get the inventory list correct. During the onsite visit by their sales-person, I was promised several things that turned out to be completely false:

- The movers will completely unhook and reconnect your washer/dryer (They cannot legally disconnect or reconnect a gas line)
- The guys are trained on how to install the moving bolts on front loading washers (they cannot do this for liability reasons)
- Just stack all your garden tools into a trash can and we can charge it as one item (the guys dealt with it, but had never heard that suggested before)
- Every item of furniture will be wrapped in pads before being carried out of the home (not the way it actually worked)

One word of advice, and this applies to ANY moving company you choose. Get the inventory list correct before moving day, and be meticulous about it. The estimators are often lax on getting the inventory perfect, and it is important. Anything, and I mean anything, that is not listed on the inventory and is not in a cardboard box will be charged as extra on moving day.

For that reason, I wish Blue Whale had been a little bit more attentive to getting the inventory right, or at least responding to me when I tried to make corrections.

Top quality movers from Blue Whale on moving day, but take control of the inventory yourself as they don't seem to take it too seriously until a check is due.

the worst- run away!!!!
They loaded our truck for a cross-country move. Didn't use the furniture pads provided on some expensive items. Major scratches. Could not get them to pay for damages- READ THEIR FINE PRINT!
They are the dregs, you can do better.

Blue Whale Helped Me
I recently moved from Dallas to Austin. My family is from Austin and I was in Dallas for work. My family recommended I use Blue Whale as they had used them before. Everything went as well as possible...no damages!!!...not even a scratch. The crew was very polite and courteous. They did arrive about a half hour late. However, since they were driving from Austin to Dallas I half excpected this. They did call me and informed me of the situation. Overall it was the best moving experience I've ever had.

Everyone whines and cries
I just want to get on here to really vent. I was a mover for this company for 3 years. I have seen lots of stuff and seen lots of diferent movers come through this company. I drove the 40ft/32 trailers. I have Moved small homes, Huge homes, RICH/Huge homes. The office staff is not out there moving nor do they ever want to. Its ALL up to the movers when they arrive at your home/APPT. Please remember that a Quote is based on what information you leave out or tell the person behind the phone. Your couch is just a couch to the person on the phone. when a mover get there its a leather overstuffed Heavy beast. The price is the same either way. yes it needs to be moved different than a college kids trash dumpster couch. Everyone has their opinions about the company that they choose. I personaly never left without asking the costomer" did everything go well"? I always left with a tip and if i didnt no sweat. There is a diference in all movers. Some are hired on and love what they do, others are working there just as a job. Your not going to get a superstar mover everytime unless you ASK and you take care of them. Why? because most people that are new at using a moving company have a image in there head and after 5 minutes in their home touching there stuff they clam up and have bad thoughts.
If You want to have a good move. PACK your stuff up...BE READY, Have DRINKS (coke, water) for the movers, BS with them dont go hide and scrutinize every little thing they do. Be HONEST with them tell them where scratches are and if you have an Antique that is falling apart, tell them.
