I love Brake Specialists!
I went to another car place, got an estimate I thought was high, then went to Lamar Brake Specialist location.

They diagnosed same problem, but had a much less expensive solution! saved me a few hundred bucks. I have also had oil changes there, and they fixed a timing chain for me as well. I would recommend them to anyone! john finlay

Busted being crooks
I took my truck in due to the fact that my A/C was out. After about 1.5 hrs I was called to the desk to be told that I needed a connector due to one being broken, I had just put them on I knew that it was not broken. They also said I needed hoses and compressor. This was going to run $1,200 I said no and took it home there I found out it was only the clutch coil $75.00. I then called them and let them know they were busted. They hung up on me so I called corporate office. we'll see how that goes,. I have also heard these people say "bring in your car and we will replace your old tired freon and replace it with new freon". Lets tell the truth freon never gets old or tired. this is fraud. I don't recommend anyone using these people If you do then expect to get ripped-off.

DONT' GO HERE IF YOU'RE FEMALE
I went in to get my state inspection done on my 2006 VW today, and after sitting in the waiting room forever (which is to be expected, just annoying) they call me up to the desk to tell me they can't pass my car b/c my wipers don't work. I ask them to please show me how they don't work b/c I had just used them last week. He told me the best thing to do would be to run an $85 diagnostic so they could figure out what the problem was. I said no thanks, and took my keys back. As soon as I got back in my car and tested the wipers, surprise surprise, they worked. I went back inside and dragged the guy out to look at my car and my fully functional wipers, and he said that he guessed they could check my car out again. The worst thing about the experience was that he didn't even apologize for being such a d*ck hole. Lesson, ladies - don't fall for the "run a diagnostics" trick. They just think you're an idiot because you're female and can scam $85 out of you.

Don't go anywhere else
Honesty and Dependability.......

the two things you want especially from your mechanic. I have been using Brake specialists since 2002 and yes I wander off at times and use a different auto repair service. Usually with really negative results. Needed my oil changed and a differential gear repaired so instead of using Brake Specialists I used a different local shop who charged me for an air filter that never made it into my car and suggested additional repairs in excess of 900 dollars which as it turns out I don't need. 100 miles later my engine light comes on and I freak out because I am on my way to Dallas for work. My husband calls Brake specialists (not the other place) who tells him not to worry because my truck probably won't break down soon and to bring it in when I get back from Dallas. They were right.

Then my husbands transmission goes out- within 100 miles of having his car worked on at the same local auto shop......two cars two transmission problems?????? What are the odds?

We went to Brake Specialist to have the cars checked out and and to solve our mechanical problems
The suggested repairs from the other shop: Bogus. If they had really bothered to inspect my car they would have found needed repairs that they could actually charge me for. Thank you Colton and Brake Specialist for keeping me safe on the road.

If the two things you want from your mechanic are honesty and dependability go to Brake Specialists on South Lamar.

STILL AN HONEST SHOP LEFT
I recently went to covert cadillac to get my brakes looked at ,been squealing. Before they even looked at my
truck the estimate was 800.00,on a referral from a friend I visited the lamar Brake Specialists store. The
manager Colton was very polite, took my tires off they did a inpection and found my brakes were just fine
he took the time to show me how thick my pads were and I would not need any brakes for about 20k
miles, did not charge me a dime and I was totally amazed how honest and polite they all were.I will be
returning to this location with my auto needs. To the staff at this location" Thank you for your honesty".
