Avoid the dance lessons beforehand. Rude dance instructor made this place very unromantic.

I visited this club one evening for salsa dancing. I arrived early and was invited to join the salsa dance class for a fee on top of the cover. Since my girlfriend and I already know salsa, we politely declined and waited for the open dancing.

However, the dance instructor did not stop asking us after we declined and asked several more times - she even went so far as to invite my girlfriend to dance for free since she needed more girls without even addressing me. I also noticed her repeatedly asking other patrons about dancing after they declined.

They also advertised the dance lesson as being good for beginners through advanced, but the lesson was a very simple repeat of every other 1 hour salsa intro I have seen. Couples did not even practice dancing together until the last 15 minutes.

The club itself is great. However when they lease it out for a party such as the Venezuelan independence party on July 12th 2008, it really was horrible. The promoter of this party , a Venezuelan ( rude) women who had no clue how to throw a party hired a young DJ who played music for 21 and under crowd. This club is known for salsa, meringue and bachata. This young DJ thought he was at a large disco full of kids. He played horrible music that no one could dance too because the age group was 25 and older. Once the band played ( they were not a complete band as usual) the people were dieing to dance to salsa or what ever the band played. However, the over stimulated males in the building could not dance salsa because I guess the Venezuelan guys don't know how to dance were standing around the edge of the dance floor looking like fools and being stupid. IIt was so bad that people were putting chairs on the dance floor!!!.. Lets not forget that the bathrooms were trashed out and the bartenders wish they were all somewhere else. MY Advice, don't go to any Venezuelan party at Copa. They have no respect for the club and have horrible social skills when at a party.

There are tons of Mexican restaurants in downtown Austin, but this one is my favorite. The food is moderatley priced and delicious. The nearby Cantina Laredo and Las Manitas just don't do it for me. I find their food to be terrible.

It seems like they have a great happy hour and lots of great events, I haven't tried them out yet, but I'll le tyou know if I do.

Perfect for lunch, Copa's has friendly service. The food is good and priced cheap. The Green Chili Chicken Pachuga is the best thing on the menu. Fajitas and Chicken Chili Relleno are also great. Checking out can be a slow process at times, especially with larger groups.

What a great spot for a fast sit-down lunch. When you go for lunch make sure to take the special offer Cops has on this site along with you. The queso is great and with the coupon, it's free!
