They charged about 400$ just to have it towed and looked at. When I explained to them that I did not have the money for the full overhaul the salesman kept on trying to talk me into it. When he saw that I was not interested in the overhaul he kept on adding prices to put my transmission to they way it was. They would not give me the amounts of the estimate or evaluation before the tow. They just wanted to get the car to their garage. If they gave me at least estimates, I would of never of gone to them. They do not provide ALL the information to customers. This company preys on inexpereince and desperate customers. One day while waiting to make a payment another customer also, stated the service was horrible and it was too expensive compared to other places. My advice to others is do not take your car there.

Took truck in for simple transmission leak, they refused to give my truck back until I agreed to a transmission overhaul. Was supposed to be around $250.00 ended up being $1,200.00. One year later I have to have my torque converter replaced again and guess what, leak is back. No warranty and out $1,200.00. Do yourself a favor, stay away from these incompetent people.

I wish I had read the previous review before going to this shop. My experience was about the same as the first reviewer, HORRIBLE! The job was expensive and my car was in worse shape after the work due to faulty re-installation of the front axles. I returned to the shop within 10 minutes of picking up my car to complain of a severe shake that was not there before. I was told it was due to bent wheels. This problem was not present with the same wheels before the transmission work was done. OK, I order new wheels (another $800) and of course the problem still exists. I point this out to the manager who agrees to take the transmission out and re-install. Another missed day from work to leave the car with Cottman's. What a surprise, new manager who knows nothing of my situation. They do NOTHING but call me at the end of day to suggest I take my car to the dealer to diagnose the problem. Cottman's did offer to pay for the diagnostic charge and to fix the problem if it is our responsibility. ANOTHER missed day of work to leave the car. I insist that the axles and driveshaft installation be redone. Guess what! Problem found and solved at exactly one month after I left my car with them. A week of car rental, several days missed work, and a set of new wheels that I did not really need has caused this to be a VERY EXPENSIVE visit. I cannot recommend this shop to anyone. STAY AWAY.

Big mistake! We were in a crunch to get our transmission worked on and checked out four specialists before deciding on cottman. What started off as a $400/ 3 hour job ended up being $1800/ 9 day job! They essentially refused to give me my vehicle after the initial workup and I had gotten a better quote from another shop. I went on four different occasions when they told be my vehicle would be ready for pick-up, only to leave empty handed. It was only after I told them my other shop quote that they dropped the price by $1,000! Three month warranty. At three 1/2 months I began having the same old problems again! I had to have a dealership fix their incomplete work. Steer away!
