I Recently bought an 02 Honda Civic from Rob Dunbar (owner of R & D Motors), under an as is contract. The civic that I had purchased had a overheating problem that Rob was quick to attempt to fix through his groovy mechanics. The problem persisted and it turned out to be a blown head gasket, Knowing that I paid good money for a vehicle that I was under the assumption was mechanically sound, he made a clean trade. He gave me another 02 civic with half the miles for the same price, I couldn't believe it. Rob truly made a compassionate gesture by having me in a vehicle immediately after having issues, even though he technically didn't have to do anything under the as is clause, he proved to be a man of his word by treating me as family!
Ultimately Grateful,
Quality at a great price
We became acquainted with the owner of R&D Motors by chance a couple of years ago. I would normally be afraid to buy a used car, but we hate to pay new car prices and Rob is a very nice guy who really loves and knows a lot about automobiles and trucks.

I mentioned were thinking about getting a medium-sized cross-over and Rob offered a great deal on a low-mileage Mazda SUV. It really looked and drove nice, so we took it. We were able to get a loan for what we paid, so there was no money down. We have loved the truck, with its high quality sound system, leather, deep tinting and DVD player, and have had no problems whatsoever in almost a year of driving over 20,000 miles including trips to the coast and both sides of the Mexican border.

Last month we decided to get a sports sedan as a second vehicle. Rob recommended an Infiniti he had just gotten in and again the price was outstanding. I'd never considered a new one of these because of the price, but we could afford this and inside it is just about the nicest luxury cab I have ever seen. The Infiniti was mainly for my wife but I love to drive it because of the way it performs. Again, no problems whatsoever.

Rob makes an effort to get high quality vehicles, loaded with options and at the top of their line, that he can sell at a great price. We have had no problems with our vehicles but understand and believe that, if we did, he will stand by what he sells and do whatever he can to make sure his customers are satisfied.

When school starts by son may be scaling down from his pickup truck to a gas-saving sedan. If he does we are going to R&D motors to find it.

Courteous, informed, professional-- and not "motivated by greed"
Courteous, informed, professional-- I believe you can trust these guys 100%--When the vehicle that I was near buying was sold by another salesman, Rob, owner, vowed to make it up to me. I did not expect what happened within 48 hours. I was offered as replacement a year newer vehicle with lower miles and much higher book value at a substantially lower price. He knew what I wanted and what I could and would pay-- yet passed on over $2000 in savings as an apology that wasn't even necessary

Pros: Totally tuned in to satisfying customer-- believes that "word of mouth" is best advertizing

DO NOT BUY - hide mechanical flaws, poor service
The earlier negative review is unfortunately true - they were very sleazy about hiding mechanical flaws in the vehicle they sold me as well (LARGE mechanical flaws - this is highly unethical). In addition, the dealers gave me conflicting info about the car, backpedaling when I noticed issues with it, etc - ie: "Uh, that's just the way these cars sound". Seriously, what self-respecting dealer says that? My car was claimed to be in "excellent" condition, and we found:

Brakes less than 10% - they told me that the brakes were new.
Radiator leaking
Transmission & CV joint problems
Oil was disgusting
Claimed it was a non-smoking vehicle (it wasn't)

It's taken roughly $1,500.00 in repairs getting this vehicle in safe condition, and will have to fix the radiator myself (otherwise we'll be pushing up at 2 grand). Even in the used-car world, it's just not ethical to sell someone a car with this much repair needed without informing them (and flat-out lying about most of it). Hopefully they will take these reviews as an opportunity to improve their standards, but I wouldn't bank on it, and would recommend going somewhere with a better reputation for honesty.
